In an exclusive interview with the New York Post on Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would prefer to negotiate a deal with Iran to ensure it remains non-nuclear rather than resort to military action.
“I would like a deal done with Iran on non-nuclear. I would prefer that to bombing the hell out of it,” Trump was quoted as saying.
The president emphasized that Iran would also prefer to avoid conflict, stating, “They don’t want to die. Nobody wants to die.”
During his previous presidency, Trump took a hard stance against Iran, withdrawing the U.S. from the 2015 nuclear deal and reimposing economic sanctions on Tehran. His latest remarks suggest a preference for diplomacy over military escalation.
The issue of Iran’s nuclear ambitions has long been a point of contention between Washington and Tehran, with ongoing international efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It remains to be seen how U.S. foreign policy on Iran will evolve under current and future administrations.
