Former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran has been appointed as the General Secretary of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK), according to party sources.
Sumanthiran, a prominent Tamil politician and lawyer, failed to secure a parliamentary seat in Sri Lanka’s 2024 general elections. Despite this, his appointment is expected to shape the future direction of ITAK, one of the key political parties representing the Tamil community in Sri Lanka.
