In a major move to improve accessibility, the President’s Fund will expand its services to 341 regional secretariat offices across Sri Lanka, starting tomorrow (07). Previously, applications were only accepted at the main office in Colombo.
Roshan Gamage, Secretary of the President’s Fund and Senior Additional Secretary to the President, stated that trained staff at divisional secretariats will use advanced technology to facilitate registrations. “This expansion will bring essential services closer to the public and ensure that those entitled to these benefits receive them promptly,” he explained.
The President’s Fund, established in 1978, provides financial assistance to individuals in need. By decentralizing its services, the government aims to make these benefits more accessible to citizens in rural and remote areas, furthering its commitment to inclusivity and efficiency.
