Trump’s Upcoming Surprise: Chicago Braces for Deportation Raids

President-elect Donald Trump and his incoming border czar, Tom Homan, have announced plans to initiate immigration raids in Chicago ahead of the new administration’s start.

Due to freezing temperatures, Trump’s inauguration ceremony has been relocated indoors.

The Wall Street Journal reports that, according to four individuals familiar with the plans, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) intends to deploy “between 100 and 200 officers” the day after the inauguration to conduct the operation.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson have reaffirmed that Chicago’s law prohibits the Chicago Police Department (CPD) from collaborating with ICE.

Additionally, Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Transit Authority, the Chicago Park District, and the City Colleges of Chicago have been instructed to deny ICE access to their facilities.
