In a historic move to propel Sri Lanka into a digital era, the government announced three groundbreaking digital initiatives set to launch tomorrow (07) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Disanayake. The initiatives, aimed at modernizing public services and enhancing accessibility, include the introduction of the GovPay platform, the expansion of President’s Fund services, and the rollout of Electronic Birth, Marriage, and Death Certificates (EBMD).
At a media briefing held today at the Presidential Media Centre (PMC), Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Engineer Eranga Weeraratne, emphasized the government’s commitment to reducing inefficiencies and fraud in cash-based systems. “These initiatives are part of our broader vision to create a transparent, efficient, and inclusive digital society,” he stated.
The launch marks a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey, with the ultimate goal of digitizing all government services to better serve citizens and the diaspora.
