The Attorney General has informed the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court that the decision to release three suspects in the murder case of journalist Lasantha Wickramatunga will be temporarily suspended.
The Attorney General had recently directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to drop charges against the three individuals accused of concealing evidence and influencing witnesses in the high-profile case. However, this directive has now been put on hold.
Following this development, Magistrate A.D. Chathurika Silva has scheduled a hearing for May 30 to review the case.
