NPP Shows Great Lead in First Postal Votes

The National People’s Power (NPP) is showing consistent strength in Galle District, building on its success from the September presidential election. During that race, NPP’s Anura Kumara Dissanayake secured 25,892 postal votes (64.5%).

In the ongoing parliamentary elections, NPP is leading nationally with 79.08% of postal votes. The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), led by Sajith Premadasa, has so far garnered 8.63%, reflecting a similar pattern seen in the presidential polls where Premadasa secured 5,338 votes in Galle.

This trend suggests a continued voter shift towards NPP, potentially reshaping the political landscape ahead of the full district results.
