The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) has announced plans to integrate Govpay for traffic fine payments, making it easier for motorists to settle fines online.
According to ICTA Board Member Harsha Purasinghe, the necessary groundwork has been completed, and an agreement will be signed soon to implement the service.
Govpay, the newly introduced official online payment platform for government services, currently facilitates payments for taxes, fines, utility bills, and educational fees.
Speaking at a recent forum in Colombo, Purasinghe noted that although Govpay had been piloted, it had not been fully introduced until the newly appointed ICTA Board intervened.
“After collaborating with multiple agencies, we officially launched Govpay with several new features. On the launch day, 16 government organizations were onboarded, and today that number has grown to 25. We continue to add new institutions each week,” he said.
