Sri Lanka is set to launch GovPay, a revolutionary digital platform designed to streamline all government payments, starting today. The initiative, introduced under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Disanayake, aims to eliminate inefficiencies and fraud associated with cash-based transactions.
Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Engineer Eranga Weeraratne, highlighted the platform’s potential to provide secure, transparent, and efficient payment solutions. “GovPay will not only simplify transactions but also enhance public trust in government services,” he said.
Harsha Purasinghe, Chairman of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), confirmed that detailed information about the institutions offering GovPay services will be available on the official website, www.GovPay.lk, starting tomorrow at 12 noon.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to digitize all public services, marking a significant step towards a cashless and corruption-free society.
