In a key meeting held today (09) at the Presidential Secretariat, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with senior officials from the Sri Lanka Customs Department and the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) to discuss strategies aimed at improving revenue generation and operational efficiency. The discussions are part of the government’s broader economic mandate to strengthen the country’s financial stability.
During the meeting, officials from both departments outlined the current challenges in revenue management and the need to address tax evasion. One of the main points emphasized was the importance of improving coordination between the Inland Revenue Department and Customs to ensure stronger enforcement of tax laws and reduce tax leakage, which would ultimately increase the country’s revenue.
