IRD Allows Tax Deactivation for Non-Earners: Submit by Nov 30

The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) announced that taxpayers registered for income tax can request to disable their registration if they have no taxable income due to reasons such as completing business operations or having no income sources. To disable the registration, individuals or businesses must provide supporting documentation proving the absence of income or profit. These documents must be submitted through the IRD’s online system by November 30, 2024. For the assessment year 2023/2024, covering the period from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, income reports can be submitted via the e-service platform on the IRD website at www.ird.gov.lk.
