Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has called on the Thai government to assist in securing the release of Sri Lankans detained in cybercrime centers in Mae Sot. The request was made during a discussion with Thai Ambassador Paitoon Mahapannaporn at the Prime Minister’s Office today (10).
Expressing her gratitude for Thailand’s efforts in rescuing 28 Sri Lankans from similar centers, the Prime Minister requested continued support to free the 40 remaining Sri Lankans still held in these facilities.
Ambassador Mahapannaporn extended warm congratulations on Dr. Amarasuriya’s appointment as Prime Minister and emphasized strengthening bilateral relations. The two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in tourism, modern agricultural technology, joint research in post-harvest technology and food processing between the agriculture faculties of Ruhuna University and North-Western University, and other areas of mutual interest, according to the Prime Minister’s Media Division.
