The Vatican Ambassador to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Most Reverend Dr. Brian Udaigwe, held a meeting with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat today (09). During the meeting, Ambassador Udaigwe conveyed heartfelt greetings and congratulations from His Holiness Pope Francis on the President’s recent election victory. He also extended the Pope’s best wishes for Sri Lanka’s success under President Dissanayake’s leadership.
Ambassador Udaigwe praised President Dissanayake’s dedication to Sri Lanka’s welfare and expressed optimism for the country’s future. He highlighted that Sri Lanka is on a positive trajectory, aligning with the aspirations of its people.
The Ambassador further commended the President’s efforts in ensuring transparent investigations into the Easter Sunday bombings, affirming the Vatican’s support in achieving justice and providing comfort to the victims and their families.
The meeting reinforced the strong diplomatic relationship between Sri Lanka and the Vatican, with both parties committed to continued cooperation for the nation’s development.
