Accountability Above All – President

“We will not permit the trust the people have placed in us to be compromised in any way,” said President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during a meeting with the heads of state media today (13). He stressed that regardless of an individual’s position in the government, mistakes would not go unaddressed, stating, “We will take necessary action without hesitation.”

The President elaborated:”For over seven decades, the people of this country have built and dismantled governments. Today, we stand with a deep understanding of the historic mandate given to us and the National People’s Power on two occasions. The trust placed in the NPP government reflects the people’s hope for a stable and standardised nation. We are determined not to tarnish that extraordinary trust, not even by the smallest error.

Our government is not here to protect those who make mistakes, for any reason. Whether the wrongdoing occurs within the country or within our administration, anyone found guilty will face the consequences. Decisive action will be taken promptly and without hesitation. Protecting the integrity of this administration is non-negotiable.”

President Dissanayake reaffirmed his government’s steadfast dedication to preserving the trust of a people who have endured decades of broken promises. He pledged to tirelessly work toward building a better nation. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, Director-General of Government Information, Harsha Bandara, and the heads of state media.
