Trump’s Inauguration Moved Indoors Amid Historic Cold Snap

Donald Trump will have his inauguration moved indoors on Monday due to dangerously cold weather conditions. The ceremony will now take place inside the Capitol Rotunda.

“Ensuring the safety of our people is paramount,” Trump shared on Truth Social. “Before we begin this journey, we must address the risks posed by the inauguration itself.”

Washington, D.C., is bracing for what could be the coldest inauguration in four decades, with an Arctic blast bringing extremely low temperatures and strong winds.

“There’s an Arctic front sweeping across the nation,” Trump noted. “I don’t want anyone—supporters, law enforcement, first responders, police K9s, or even horses—being harmed by the conditions on the 20th. If you do attend, please dress warmly!”

The last indoor swearing-in occurred during Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in 1985 when temperatures plummeted to 7 degrees. Monday’s forecast suggests a similarly frigid day.

While the presidential parade and swearing-in ceremony will no longer take place outdoors, live viewing of the event has been arranged at Capital One Arena, where Trump will make an appearance after the ceremony.
