Chinese drone maker DJI has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), challenging its inclusion on a list of companies allegedly tied to the Chinese military. DJI, the world’s largest drone manufacturer, denies the claims, saying the designation is incorrect and has hurt its business and reputation.
The company, which controls over half of the U.S. commercial drone market, is asking a federal court to remove its name from the list. DJI says the DoD’s decision has led to financial losses, canceled contracts, and being unfairly labeled a security threat.
This lawsuit comes as tensions between the U.S. and China grow, with American lawmakers cracking down on Chinese technology over security concerns. Other Chinese companies, such as telecom giant China Mobile, face similar scrutiny, showing how U.S. authorities are tightening controls.
DJI says it tried to address the issue with the DoD for more than a year but received no response, leaving the lawsuit as its only option. The outcome of the case could impact the future of foreign technology in the U.S. and the global drone industry.
